Peachtree Industrial Blvd

From Peachtree Corners

See Georgia_State_Route_141 for more information.

Peachtree Industrial Boulevard is also known as "PIB" to locals. It begins (at the southern end) in Buckhead where Peachtree Street splits into Roswell Rd. (heading North) and PIB (heading North-East). At I-285 it becomes a limited access highway for 4 miles until it splits at the southern end of Peachtree Corners into Peachtree Parkway to the left (which continues as 141), while PIB continues to the right. PIB continues Northeast, forming the eastern side of Peachtree Corners. Past Peachtree Corners, PIB runs through Duluth and beyond.

First noted in this Gwinnett Forum Article (http://www.gwinnettforum.com/issue/07.0123.htm#elliott) by Elliott Brack.

See the ARC Multimodal Corridor Study (http://www.atlantaregional.com/mmcs/) for more information (it's a part of the Buford Highway study (http://www.atlantaregional.com/MMCS/9.htm)).

The ARC released details of a study done in 2006 to improve transportation along the Buford Highway corridor. One of the 2 resulting scenarios proposes that the limited access portion of PIB (which currently runs from 285 to Holcomb Bridge) be extended all the way up to Sugarloaf Parkway. Both scenarios call for a "seperation of grade" at the Buford Highway/Jimmy Carter intersection. This would be similar to intersections at interstate overpasses, similar to the project at Buford Hwy and Pleasant Hill Road. Perhaps some attention is being focused in this area as a result of the planned Asian Village, which is expected to draw a large number of tourists.
